Commons:Bots/Requests for flags/MiszaBot
MiszaBot
Operator: Misza13
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic, unsupervised
Programming Language(s): Python; pywikipedia
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): daily
Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Y
Functions: The bot will archive discussion pages (in various namespaces). It is capable of archiving threads based on the newest timestamp and putting them into archives that are named either using date of thread or incrementing numbers (the bot can move to next number if current archive gets full). More detailed instructions are available here (will copy them here soon). It is entirely my own original code (recently committed to the pywikipedia tree) and its three cousins have been operating on en.wiki for several months now (earlier as EssjayBots I-III). For start, I'll convert current configuration of Werdnabot to the new system. Миша13 20:39, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Support -- Have been waiting for a long time for this :) -- Bryan (talk to me) 20:43, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- No objecttion. However, please look time to time what bot doing. As far as I remember, User:Werdnabot had some issues. --EugeneZelenko 14:32, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Seems like a good idea. Misza's bots do a good job with archiving on en.wiki (I use them myself) and seem to not to have the same issues that Werdnabot did from time to time. WjBscribe 03:45, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Although I probably wouldn't make use of it on my talk page, I'm sure other pages could. Question: is there an archiving bot in existence of Commons yet? Majorly (talk) 14:54, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Support The bot runs on en.wikipedia without any problems, so why not here? Wikihermit 21:18, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have no objections with this request and think it is a great idea. The bot already does a fine job on Wikipedia (and I turst Misza's programming capabilities :)). Cbrown1023 talk 20:09, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Comment - one drawback of my bot (in comparison to Werdnabot) is that it doesn't update archive indexes and "This page is automatically archived..." boxes. Anyway, since there don't seem to be any objections, may I the bot please be granted a bot flag? Minor edits done by flagged bots do not trigger "You have new messages" on User talk: pages, which is a rather welcome feature. :-) Миша13 00:00, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
