Summary

Description An educational thought-experiment, illustrating the encapsulation principle in object-oriented programming.
The machine outputs a 150€ note when it is fed a 50€ note while in operational mode. If it is in maintenance mode staff has to be called to exchange the brown and the purple cartridge to re-enable the machine.
The idea is to make students speculate about the inner workings of the machine. Does the purple cartridges contain purple ink to print onto the 50€ bill or is the 50€ bill collected in the brown cartridge and a fake is output from purple instead? …
