DescriptionCedar Creek reenactment VA25.jpg	English: Union reenactors at the 2024 reenactment of the Battle of Cedar Creek, Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park, Middletown, Virginia, USA. The officer on horseback wears the insignia of a Union major, accompanied by a captain. Major General Philip Sheridan was in command of Union forces at Cedar Creek. Sheridan was a distinctive-looking man who differed greatly in appearance from the reenactor, and his horse "Winchester", known before Cedar Creek as "Rienzi", was black, not gray. Sheridan was 33 years old in 1864. The reenactor and his horse are a closer approximation of Robert E. Lee and his horse Traveller. Reenactors resembling Sheridan are not easily found.
