Map marking the microstates for reference (the map is a slightly different version, but the locations of most of the small states are the same)

If you plan on generating a new map for wikipedia by zooming in on this map and making some modifications, please consider a source map in SVG format instead, which will produce a higher quality image. These can be found in the SVG section at Wikipedia:Blank Maps.

This is a version of w:Image:BlankMap-World-v2.png map on wikipedia. This map is only designed to show countries for use on statistical information to be converted into maps where it takes a long time to add the information for some over 200 countries and hence areas such as islands and large external territories owned by a country have been joined together with thin lines so that countries can be colored in one click. Please then overlay with a white layer or ocean layer to hide the lines. This can be done in a program such as GIMP.

Territories owned by a country on another continent such as French Guiana by France, and Greenland by Denmark are not joined because this would make the map too messy.
